There is no State forklift licence — there is proof of competence
Ireland has no government-issued forklift licence. What the law requires under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work legislation is that every operator is trained, assessed and competent on the specific truck category they use, and that the employer can produce the records to prove it. The certificate people call a "forklift ticket" is that evidence. It is issued by an accredited training provider, it names the truck category the operator was assessed on, and it is normally treated as valid for three years. Run an uncertified operator and you are exposed on three fronts at once: HSA enforcement, an insurer who may decline a claim, and the incident itself.

Categories
One ticket per truck category
Certification is category-specific. Adding a second category to the same course costs far less than running it separately later.
Counterbalance
The standard sit-on, front-loading forklift — the category most Irish operators certify on first.
Reach truck
Narrow-aisle, high-level racking work. A counterbalance ticket does not cover it.
Pallet truck & stacker
Pedestrian and ride-on powered pallet trucks and low-level stackers for goods-in and dispatch.
VNA & order picker
Man-up very narrow aisle trucks and order pickers for high-density warehousing.

How it works
From enquiry to certificate
Pick the category
Counterbalance, reach, pallet truck, stacker, VNA or order picker — the ticket covers the category the operator is assessed on, so start with the truck they will actually drive.
Assess the level
Novice, conversion or refresher. We ask what the candidate has driven and for how long before quoting, rather than selling everyone the longest course.
Train and assess
Theory, practical and formal assessment against the accredited syllabus, on your own truck at your own site where practical.
Certificate and reminders
Certificate issued on the day for successful candidates, digital records held for you, and a reminder before the three-year expiry.
What it costs
What a forklift ticket costs in Ireland
We don't publish a per-head rate, because a single published figure would be wrong for almost everyone who reads it. Here is what actually moves the price.
Course level
A novice course runs several days and costs the most per head. Conversions are shorter, and a refresher is a single day.
Group size
The instructor day rate is shared across the group. Three candidates trained together cost far less per head than one candidate on an open course.
Truck category
Counterbalance, reach, stacker and order picker are separate categories. Bundling categories into one course is cheaper than adding one later.
On-site or at a centre
On-site removes travel and downtime for your team but adds mobilisation. Which is cheaper depends on how many candidates you have.
Assessment outcome
Where a candidate needs more instruction time we say so and quote it, rather than issuing a certificate that would not survive scrutiny after an incident.
Records and renewals
Certificates, registers and the paperwork your insurer and the HSA expect are included in every course we run.
