How to choose the right pallet truck
Four decisions cover almost every specification we quote in Ireland. Get these right and the rest is options.
Match capacity to your heaviest pallet
Most Irish distribution pallets sit between 700 kg and 1,200 kg, so a 1.5 t truck covers general use. Choose 2.0–2.5 t if you handle drinks, tiles, chemicals or double-stacked pallets.
Check your aisle and trailer width
Pedestrian pallet trucks need roughly 2,000–2,300 mm working aisle. If you load curtain-siders or tail-lifts, fork length and overall width matter more than lift capacity.
Lithium-ion for multi-shift work
Lithium packs opportunity-charge during breaks, need no watering and hold voltage to the end of the shift. For single-shift work, maintenance-free lead-acid is still the cheaper entry point.
Rider or pedestrian
Above roughly 60 metres per move, a platform or ride-on truck removes fatigue and adds throughput. Below that, pedestrian trucks are more manoeuvrable in tight back-of-store areas.
