Is a 2 tonne forklift the right size for your site?
The 2 tonne forklift is the workhorse of Irish warehousing — the capacity we quote more than any other. It covers virtually every standard palletised load, copes with the occasional heavy outlier, and still fits the aisle widths and floor loadings of a typical Irish distribution unit. If you are replacing an ageing diesel and are not sure what size to go for, a 2 tonne lithium-electric counterbalance is the safest default.

Four checks before you sign off the capacity
These four decisions settle almost every forklift specification we quote in Ireland.
Rate the truck at your load centre
Every capacity figure is quoted at a 500 mm load centre. Long, deep or off-centre loads derate the truck fast — send us the pallet dimensions, not just the weight.
Check lift height derating
Residual capacity falls as the mast extends, especially on reach trucks and triplex masts. We size against your top beam level, not the floor.
Electric unless you truly need combustion
Modern lithium electrics match diesel throughput indoors and in most Irish yards, with no fumes, far lower running cost and no fuel storage.
Add a safety margin — but not too much
Aim for roughly 10–20% headroom over your heaviest routine load. Over-specifying adds weight, cost, turning circle and floor loading you don't need.

Everyday palletised handling: unloading trailers and containers, feeding production lines, putting stock into racking up to around 6 metres, and yard work. It is the standard capacity for Irish distribution because it carries any normal pallet with margin to spare.
