The problem

What electric tugs fix in irish industry

Manual pushing and pulling

Staff straining to start heavy trolleys is a leading cause of musculoskeletal injury. A tug takes the force away from the operator.

Forklifts tied up on short moves

Using a forklift to shunt wheeled loads wastes a certified operator and a truck that should be lifting.

Two- or three-person moves

Loads that need a team to move become a one-person job, freeing people for productive work.

Tight routes and doorways

Pedestrian tugs work where forklifts can't — corridors, lifts, cleanrooms and between production cells.

Very heavy, very rare moves

Machinery, moulds and modular buildings up to 70,000 kg, without a crane or extra lifting equipment.

Controlled, safe movement

Speed control, anti-crush buttons, emergency stops and braking come as standard across the range.

Safety & compliance

What it means for your site

Manual handling regulations

Ireland's General Application Regulations (S.I. 299/2007) require employers to avoid or reduce risky manual handling. Replacing pushing and pulling with a tug is a recognised control.

No forklift certificate needed

Operators need training and competence, not a forklift licence. AWE trains operators at handover.

FAQs

Electric tug questions from irish industry

An electric tug (also called a pedestrian tug, tow tug or power pusher) is a battery-powered machine that couples to a wheeled load — a trolley, cart, trailer, vessel or skid — so one operator can push, pull and steer it without lifting it. MasterMover tugs move loads from a few hundred kilos up to 70,000 kg.
